Los Angeles Valiant CEO Noah Whinston announced Monday the team has hired veteran Korean Overwatch coach Byung Chul “MBC” Moon as head coach of the Valiant.
Coach MBC joins the Valiant after establishing a career in Overwatch and Heroes of the Storm (also from Blizzard Entertainment). While coaching Korean Overwatch, he led the team Mighty AOD which included current Valiant players, Pan-Seung “Fate” Koo and Young-Seo “KariV” Park.
Now that he has joined Valiant, Coach MBC not only reunites with his previous players, but provides a fresh perspective that will continue to grow on the first stage successes of the team.
“I really appreciate Coach MBC’s outlook on how to make a team synergize well together,” said Whinston. "I expect that the team is going to both perform better, but more importantly, become more self-sufficient and proactive at identifying and solving their own issues.”
The Valiant want to thank Henry “Cuddles” Coxall for his service as head coach in Stage 1. While he is not continuing with the team this season, the organization is grateful for all the work he put in to preparing the team for the Overwatch League.
Julien “Daemon” Ducros, Jordan “Gunba” Graham, Dr. Doug Gardner, and Mike Schwartz will remain on the Valiant coaching staff.
